About Us

Buddies to Business Partners

The best ideas start casually, between friends, over ice cream. Or, at least that’s what we like to think at Northwest Landscaping — because that’s how we began. Founded in 2001 by three high school buddies, Northwest Landscaping has grown into one of the largest, locally-owned landscaping businesses in Tucson, grounded by reliability and likability and housed in a state-of-the-art facility off the aptly named Dairy Place. Now that’s full circle.

Our History

Chad Berg and Glenn Brchan meet for ice cream and kick around ideas for a business. A few weeks and phone calls later, Chad and Glenn partnered to create Landscaping by Northwest, offering landscape maintenance services as an added option for Northwest Exterminating customers. They quickly grew and asked Steven Chrismer, a fellow Parker High School buddy, to join the team and round out the ownership trio.

Landscaping by Northwest evolved to Northwest Landscaping after rebranding and consistently hitting revenue targets. During this time, NWL adopted the infamous “seafoam green” trucks for which the company has become known. Funny thing is, the color wasn’t exactly a choice. NWL’s fleet began with two stock Chevy trucks, and that seafoam was the only color available. It’s now one of our most identifiable qualities.

Like the rest of the country, the ’08 housing crisis created some unprecedented challenges for NWL. Since the majority of NWL’s work at the time was installing landscaping in residential neighborhoods, the company worked together to regroup and begin to focus on growing the commercial maintenance division. As time went on, and the construction industry returned to normal, NWL started taking on construction installations once again.

Thanks to robust growth, sizable accounts and million-dollar installs, NWL introduced a cutting-edge software platform that would allow it to better analyze data, make more informed business decisions and rechannel its focus to what best supports its customers.

With continued growth, the company had officially outgrown its original office, so the tough decision was made to move…around the corner! NWL now operates out of a state-of-the-art facility off Dairy Place, which can easily house our growing staff of over 120 and fleet of 60+ trucks. When the global pandemic took the world by storm, we took this time to focus on business infrastructure, which led us to surpass company milestones and build a deep confidence in our team.

After experiencing such tremendous progress in the years prior, our team decided we needed a new, modern look to match our fresh and renewed energy, which inspired our complete rebrand — with a new look, a new logo and a new website.

The North Stars for Northwest

Dependable

We do what we promise, always. That means our dependability is one of our most invaluable attributes.

Professional

With more than two decades of experience in the industry, and backgrounds in agriculture, we’ve seen and done it all. We’ve earned our expertise.

Local

What began over ice cream in Arizona City has endured over more than two decades. We’re locally owned and operated and we plan to stay that way.

Bold

Design requires creativity and sometimes bravery. We have both and we aren’t afraid to use them whenever they’re needed.

Meet The Northwest Landscaping Family

Starting out as a pre-treat technician at Northwest Exterminating, Chad excelled at a young age and rapidly advanced through the ranks, ultimately acquiring the company in 1999. In 2001, when the possibility of expanding the company’s offerings to include landscaping services for their customers was brought up, Chad readily agreed. His eagerness to embark on new ventures has played a significant role in Northwest’s enduring presence in the Tucson community. It is unclear if Chad has ever turned down an opportunity to pursue something fresh and exciting.
